In elementary and middle school, your child learns foundational art vocabulary and drawing techniques, often connecting art with other subjects. Middle school offers Art and Digital Art, where students learn Adobe Creative Cloud software and more. In high school, students deepen those skills and explore their creative voice.
High school art courses
Your student can develop their interests through these courses. Course offerings vary from year to year, so ask which are running this year.
- Introduction to Art. The basic elements and principles of art, with a comprehensive survey of art history.
- Intermediate Art. Advancing art concepts and principles. Prerequisite: Introduction to Art.
- Advanced Art. Continued studio work at the advanced level.
- Digital Art. Creating art with digital tools.
- Digital Design. Photography, yearbook, and more, learning Adobe Creative Cloud software along the way.
- Photography. Digital photography and post-production using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, progressing from simple objects to people, situations, and storytelling.
- Yearbook. Graphic design and journalism, culminating in the production of the school yearbook using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
