Guidance from the beginning
Choosing what comes after high school brings plenty of questions. Your student has someone to help them work through those choices. Our college advisor, Mrs. Mateyka, meets with all freshmen at mandatory freshman orientation, beginning the conversation before their first high school class. That early start gives students a place to begin planning for the four years ahead.
A next step that fits your student
Your student brings their own interests, talents, and career pursuits to the college search. We start there, helping them explore universities and colleges that suit those goals. Admission requirements and deadlines differ from school to school; our advisor helps students understand what their choices will require and prepare their applications.

The right pathway, course by course
A four-year university is one destination. A trade or technical program is another. Our counselor helps your student map the pathway that leads where they want to go, then choose the courses that support it: dual credit courses that earn college credit in high school, AP courses, and the other options that fit their goals. The plan stays your student’s own, with a guide beside them.
Testing on campus
Your student can take the key College Board tests here at school, with teachers they know. Sophomores and juniors take the PSAT each fall. New this year, SFC hosts an SAT School Day, so students take the SAT on campus during a regular school day. Students in our audited AP courses sit their AP exams here as well.
Support along the way
Time for individual questions. Students schedule one-on-one time with the college counseling department to discuss their plans and next steps.
Help managing the process. With classes, clubs, sports, and applications competing for attention, students have tools and guidance to help them work through college planning.
Informed decisions. From exploring a university and major to preparing essays and recommendation letters, our advisors help students understand their options and navigate admissions.
Parent nights for every class. Through the year, parent nights for each high school class keep you up to date on where your student is in the college process and what comes next.
